Bedfordshire Chess League – Time controls for matches by Peter Montgomery

There are 2 time controls for League matches.  One for the first 35 moves of the game and then the game must be completed within the second time control.

The First Time Control is 35 moves in 1 hour and 10 minutes plus ten seconds per move.

The Second Time Control is an additional 10 minutes plus ten seconds per move. Your time remaining after your 35th move is carried forwards to the rest of the game.

NOTE  because of the way the clocks have to be programmed the additional 10 minutes is added for both players after the first clock reaches Zero NOT after 35 moves. As can be seen in the first video a flag appears on the screen of the clock that reaches 0 first.

It is the players responsibility to check that his opponent has made 35 moves when the First Time Control is reached and claim the win on time if they have not.

NOTE The flag showing that the first time control was reached only stays on screen for 5 minutes.

At the end of the Second Time Control,  as can be seen in the second video a flashing flag appears on the screen of the clock.

It is the players responsibility to notice that his opponent has reached the Second Time Control and claim the win on time.
