The next step up for Luton chess club: EACU Closed Championships 2025.

An important event for Luton chess club players.

The East Anglian Chess Union (EACU) Closed Championships 2025 will be held on the weekend of Saturday 18th to Sunday 19th January 2025, at Newmarket. The format is a 5 round Swiss to determine EACU Champions.

There are three sections, categorised by ECF ratings: Under 1650; Under 1950 and Open. The winner of the Open section automatically qualifies to enter the 2025 British Chess Championships.

This competition is open only to players from chess clubs in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. All Luton club members who are Gold ECF members qualify to enter.

In recent years, Luton chess club players have returned to the Bedfordshire Chess League winning the division 2 title; entered the Bedfordshire County Individual Chess Championship with high placed finalists, and played for Bedfordshire County to help win the Fleming Trophy.

It's time for Luton chess club players at all levels to compete in the 2025 EACU Closed Championships.
